What I noticed this week on the Farm.
Hi everyone,
It’s full-on spring here at Lucky Dog Farm—woohoo! Here are a few of the signs we’re seeing:
The lambs are growing like weeds. Honestly, it’s unreal.
The ewes really, really want to be out on grass. Patience, ladies.
The daffodils are in bloom.
The pastures are greening up—slowly but surely.
Our rogue robin is back to attacking the car mirrors. Still not sure how I feel about that.
Birds are gathering shed wool for their nests.
The chickens are on a roll: eight hens, seven (sometimes eight!) eggs a day. Anyone need some?
The red maples are flowering.
Saw the first Spring Beauty flower in the woods.
Our pair of mallards has returned to the pond below the house.
The rhubarb is up—about four inches tall. Pies soon.
The ruffed grouse are drumming in the woods.
Bluebirds! At least two pairs are checking out the nest boxes.
Spring doesn’t arrive all at once here—but when it comes, it’s everywhere at once. What are you noticing where you are?
Happy Spring from all of us at Lucky Dog Farm!
Warmly, Farmer Judith
