True story: I was a vegetarian for YEARS.
Hello friends! I’m so glad you’re here!
Maybe you’re someone who is simply looking for healthier food choices. You find yourself reaching for pre-made “food” more often than you’d like.
Maybe your doctor has told you that you need more iron in your diet, and that lamb is a great natural source of iron (along with lots of other nutrients.)
Or maybe, like me, you’re wanting to add meat to your diet after years of being a vegetarian. I hear you, loud and clear.
I was a vegetarian for years. I couldn’t stomach (pun intended) the way that grocery-store meat is raised and processed. I read an expose in “Harrowsmith” years ago on the meat industry, and it forever changed the way I think about mega-farm livestock production.
I wasn’t in a position to raise my own livestock at that time, so I…stopped eating meat. And I always, ALWAYS missed it.
Fast-forward to 2016, moving to South Strafford and starting Lucky Dog Farm. All of a sudden, I was able to realize my life-long dream of farming. I was able to put into practice all of the things that I know to be true when it comes to raising livestock humanely, ethically, and not just low-impact on the land, but actually helping to IMPROVE the land.
I started with just a few sheep (4, actually), raising a couple of lambs a year for family and friends. The feedback was incredibly positive—Raising animals the way nature intended makes all the difference. You can taste it in every succulent bite of Lucky Dog Farm lamb.
And here we are. I’m now raising enough lambs to be able to share with my family, friends, and community. What a gift. Get your Lucky Dog Farm lamb here.
Tell me about your own meat-eating journey, and how you make those decisions. I’d love to connect with you!
Warmly, Farmer Judith
